The petition was filed by S Srinivason, a Chennai resident. The division bench comprising Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice R Mahadevan dismissed the petition observing that similar cases are pending with the Supreme Court and the petitioner can approach the apex court for a remedy, according to reports.
The petitioner argued that it would be appropriate only if the elections are held in a free and fair manner, with due and equitable representation, as per the recommendations of the RM Lodha Committee Report, under the supervision and charge of a retired election commissioner or a court-appointed administrator, only after making the due amendments in the Memorandum of Association and the rules of the TNCA.
He alleged that while the Committee recommended that cricketers should be part of the administration, not even a single cricketer finds a place in the executive committee of TNCA and as the Committee pointed out, there is no equitable representation from the State, since while Chennai has aorund 150 clubs which has voting powers, whereas most of the districts did not have vote.
