The Madras High Court on Thursday issued notice to the Election Commission on two petitions challenging the election of DMK and All India NR Congress (AINRC) candidates from their respective assembly constituencies.

R Sakkarapani's (DMK) election from Oddanchatram constituency in Tamil Nadu's Dindigul district has been challenged by a local voter while that of AINRC candidate S V Sugumaran from Mangalam seat in Puducherry by one Kumaravel of DMK.

K Karuppasamy alleged that Sakkarapani, who won by a margin of 65,727 votes, had indulged in bribing the voters to secure victory in the May 16 polls. He claimed that the candidate's nomination papers were incomplete and sought a direction to declare his election void.

Justice MV Muralidharan issued notice to the Election Commission, returning officers of the respective constituencies and the winning candidates.
