The Maharashtra government on Monday reiterated that it was firm that dance bars remain shut. Close on the heels of last week judgement delivered by the Supreme Court upholding the Bombay high court's order quashing the state government's decision to ban dance bars, state home minister RR Patil told Maharashtra Legislative Assembly that the government has received opinions from the Advocate General and other legal experts to chalk out future course of action.

Patil said the government will take decision soon based on the opinions it had received. He was responding to a point raised during zero hour by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena legislator Bala Nandgaonkar.Although Patil did not divulge further details, government sources said that various options including filing of review petition or promulgation of ordinance are being actively considered. Besides, the government may tighten the norms for issuing performance licence to dance bars.

Patil at the outset told the house that the government was in unanimity with the opposition that dance bars should remain shut.
