According to initial reports, around tenty two passengers of the Delhi-bound train were injured in the incident which took place at 2:07 am, the Chief Public Relations Officer, North Central Railway said.
The official said an accident relief train has also been rushed to the site and the injured have been given first-aid.
Around eight coaches from the rear side of the train derailed between Mahoba and Kulpahar stations, the CPRO said.
Senior officials, including the general manager of North Central Railway M C Chauhan, have rushed to site and rescue operations are on.
The cause of the derailment is yet to be ascertained.
Railway officials have operationalised helplines at Jhansi, Gwalior, Banda and Nizamuddin stations to disseminate information to relatives of the passengers.

The incident occurred on Kazipet-Balharshah section about 30 kilometres before Balharshah station on South Central Railway (SCR) at around 1 am. The incident took place shortly after 9 pm near Shamuktala Road station, which is about 32 km from Alipurduar Railway Division headquarters. North East Frontier Railway officials said an accident relief train has already reached the spot from Alipurduar along with senior railway officials.
The injured have been rushed to Alipurduar district hospital for treatment and relief and rescue work is underway, said Alipurduar DRM Sanjiv Kishore.
44 people were injured when 14 coaches of the Ajmer-Sealdah express train derailed near Rura railway station in Kanpur dehat district on December 27, 2016.
The mishap took place around 6 am near Rura railway station, 70 km from here, Northern Central Railways PRO Amit Malviya said.
