Meru Cabs, the country’s leading cab service, is aiming to have a fleet of 500 cabs in Odisha within a year.
The cab service provider has forayed into the Odisha market with 50 cabs.
“We plan to have at least 500 cabs in the state within a year. We are starting with the franchise model. Individual taxi drivers are also participating. With the launch of its service here, Meru Cabs has now expanded its presence to 15 cities in the country. It has a market share of 45 per cent in the organised taxi segment. Meru Cabs has presence in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. “Safety is at the core of our service. We are emphasising a lot on training of drivers and verification of their records by the police to ensure safety for the commuters,” said Pahwa. The cab service provider has a fleet of 10,000 cabs on road and over 35,000 trips a day, catering to over four million passengers. Recently, Meru has introduced a new mobile app with features including one touch booking, cab tracking, confirmed booking up to seven days in advance and cab wallet.
