R K Pachauri, director general of The Energy and Resources Institute, was conferred the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle, the highest decoration awarded by Mexico to foreigners, on Tuesday during the G20 Summit in Los Cabos. The award was to recognise his contribution to the Mexican nation and to the humankind. Pachauri, who had advised Mexico as chair of the Cancún Conferences on Climate Change, has helped Mexico ensure the link between economic growth and sustainable development.
