Expressing concern over the recent political development in Darjeeling Hills, Leader of the Opposition and CPI-M leader Surjya Kanta Mishra on Thursday said the state government and GJM should show restraint and sit for a meeting with all stakeholders of the hills of West Bengal.

"We had earlier said that it would create a problem but the state government did not pay any heed to our suggestion. We would appeal to both GJM and the state government to restrain themselves so that the situation does not go out of hands," Mishra, a CPI-M politburo member, told reporters here.

"We had earlier said that all the stakeholders of the area which includes Lepchas, Bhutias and other communities should be involved in the discussion and the periphery of GTA," he said.

Nobody would be happy if there has been violence and tension in the hills, he said adding, "We appeal to the state government to solve the situation through dialogue."
