A cabinet committtee chaired by Indian Prime Minsiter, Narendra Modi, met at New Delhi to discuss security conditions in the country amid escalating tensions with its nucler-armed neighbour, Pkaistan.

The Cabinet Committee on security comes on the heels of several anonymous threat messages being discovered in various parts of India. Souring relations have also impacted lives along the India-Pakistan border.

Situation has been tense in the border areas since the September 18 attack at an army camp in Uri town of Jammu and Kashmir that left 19 soldiers dead. India blamed the Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammad militant group for the attack.

Relations between the two neighbouring nations further deteriorated after the Indian Army, on September 28 night, carried out surgical strikes to destroy terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
