Even after spending more than Rs 250 crore provided by Japan Bank for International Corporation (JBIC) years ago for 1000-year old 362 sq km upper lake (locally known as Bada Talab) of Bhopal, state government is trying to find ways to conserve it by organizing three-day cultural programmes and an international discussion named as "Jheel Mahotsav".

Experts from the secretariat of the Ramsar Convention on Wetland Switzerland and International Lake Environment Committee scientists will also participate in the festival. Wetland International South Asia, Institute of Habitat Studies, Netherlands will share information and experiences on the occasion.

"We want to market the recognition accorded to it recently by United Nations through this festival," Kailash Vijayavergiya, minister for housing and environment said here.
