The Indian Green Building Council has awarded LEED gold certification to Mumbai airport's T2 for sustainable environment practices. The certification was awarded on adherence to certain parameters including water efficiency, water use reduction, proper waste collection facilities and use of environment friendly materials in construction of terminal.
"GVK is committed to managing and developing CSIA in an environmentally sensitive and responsible manner. GVK strives continually to improve environmental performance, reduce waste and prevent pollution,'' said G V Sanjay Reddy, managing director of Mumbai International Airport Limited.
Delhi airport's T3 received LEED gold rating in 2011 making it the first airport terminal in India to achieve the certification.
