The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural development (NABARD) has allocated Rs 900 crore for various rural and agricultural infrastructure projects in Karnataka.
In the second phase, Nabard has sanctioned loan of Rs 20.09 crore to the Government of Karnataka under RIDF XIX for the construction of Industrial Training Institutes in eight districts such as Chikkaballapur, Gadag, Bidar, Mysore, Mandya, Belgaum, Uttara Kannada and Koppal, Nabard said in a press release.
The project will be implemented by the Labour Dep-artment. These projects are expected to benefit approximately 1,600 rural youths in getting employment annually besides other benefits like non-recurring employment generation of 675,000 mandays and 67 recurring employment generation.
These Industrial Training Institutes are expected to open avenues for skill development and ensure steady flow of skilled manpower to industries and to raise quality and quantity of industrial production by systematic training of workers.

These ITIs will impart three types of training schemes namely Craftsmen Training Schemes, Apprent-iceship Training Scheme and Special Training Schemes. Further, there is provision for the upgrade of ITIs into Centres of Excellence through Public-Private Partnership.
