US-based streaming video service Netflix has now launched services in India. The service will allow access to TV shows and movies, along with award-winning Netflix original series and documentaries.

The service has launched with three tiers of pricing available per month – basic at Rs 500, standard at Rs 650 and premium at Rs 800.

For those already excited about the services, here is a complete beginner’s guide to Netflix:

How does free trial work?
Netflix offers new users a month of free trial before they can subscribe themselves for regular services. Users can sign up for the service on the site by creating an account for themselves. The sign up will require users to share their credit/debit card details for future usage. Once an account is created, users will gain unlimited access to movies, TV shows and documentaries, which can be live streamed using the internet.

At the end of the free trial period, if a subscription is not cancelled by the user, services will continue as normal. The subscription fee per month will automatically be deducted from the user's bank account.

Users can easily cancel their subscription anytime they want. There are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees.

What can be used to stream Netflix?
Users can access their Netflix account instantly from any Internet-connected device that offers a Netflix app or takes you to the Netflix website. Be it a computer, gaming console, DVD or Blu-ray player, HDTV, set-top box, home theater system, phone or tablet, Netflix is easily accessible.

Huge collection of movies
Netflix has a huge library of movies and TV show that users can access. Shows on Netflix are not interrupted by commercials at any point. Users can pause, stop, rewind or fast-forward through a show, as per their liking. Netflix also saves user progress on shows and movies, allowing them to watch multiple shows at a time, letting them pick up from wherever they stop.

Netflix also allows users to select their favourite genres, movies and TV shows. The service then recommends content based on this selection and shows previously watched, helping users discover new content.

Does Netflix provide HD viewing?
Many Netflix titles are available in HD. The picture quality while streaming movies and TV shows however may vary from device to device. Picture quality may also be affected by a variety of other factors, such as your location, the bandwidth available through and/or speed of user’s Internet connection.

How many devices can be connected at the same time?
A Netflix membership allows users to connect multiple devices via a single account. The number of devices that may be allowed however will depend on the user membership plan. To see the details of membership plan, users need to go to "change plan information" in the account page.
