LIVE: Children aged 15-18, frontline workers to get vaccine shots, says PM

Live updates: In his address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that children aged between 15-18 will be administered vaccine doses from January 3, 2022. He hailed the Indian healthcare system, the frontline workers, doctors, and researchers for their tireless efforts to curb the coronavirus surge.
He urged the citizens to avoid panic and misinformation and exercise caution. He further announced that the frontline health workers will be given an extra precautionary vaccine dose from January 10, 2022.
Talking about the senior citizens, PM said that precautionary shots to those who have comorbidities after consultation with the doctors.
PM Modi wished the nation on the occasion of Christmas and said that while people must welcome the new year, they should be careful and not let their guard down against the Omicron variant. He said that the economic activity has been recovering and normalcy is returning.
Talking about the vaccination of children, PM said that it would give confidence to the parents while sending their children to schools and colleges.
PM hailed the states with higher tourism rates for achieving 100% vaccination of adults.
