Nick Clegg visited HAL’s aircraft division along with his business delegation here today. “I am especially interested in the on-going success of the Hawk project,” he said on his visit. He appreciated the sustained efforts of HAL on this project.
“I am thankful to whole HAL team for a fascinating and insightful tour of these huge facilities,” he remarked. Till date HAL has delivered 63 Hawk aircraft for the Indian defence forces, 54 to the IAF and nine to the Indian Navy.
The company has completely absorbed technology transfer for production of Hawk AJT. Batch-2 aircraft being delivered ahead of contract schedule. Nineteen aircraft were delivered as against contractual requirement of 12 aircraft for the year ending March 2014.
The licence built Hawk simulators for ground based training of IAF and Indian Navy personnel are under advanced stage of completion.
