Poly-septic tank and multi-tree climber, two grassroots innovations, will now be commercially marketed by Ahmedabad-based National Innovation Foundation – India (NIF), a statement issued by NIF said here on Thursday.
The NIF signed an agreement on Wednesday with GMI Zarhak Moulders Pvt. Ltd. for manufacturing and marketing of poly-septic tank developed by grassroots innovator Rajesh T R from Kerala with support from Blaise Costabir from Goa, according to the statement. For marketing of multi-tree climber, developed by grassroots innovator D N Venkat from Tamil Nadu, it inked a deal with Odisha-based Bhumiputra Agri Brigade.
The statement added that an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for marketing of poly-septic tank was signed by Dr Vipin Kumar, director and chief innovation officer, NIF and Blaise Costabir, managing director, GMI Zarhak Moulders Pvt. Ltd. in presence of Professor Anil Gupta, executive vice-chairperson, NIF and innovator Rajesh T R.
According to the statement, Rajesh T R had developed a "poly-septic tank" with a nano baffle system. This makes the poly-septic tank more spacious compared to concrete septic tank. While D N Venkat, the statement said, developed a "multi-tree climber" for climbing coconut, palmyra, teak, rubber, silver oak and similar trees.
NIF is an autonomous organisation of the Union government’s Department of Science and Technology providing institutional support to innovators from the informal sector.
Based at Verna in Goa, GMI Zarhak Moulders Pvt. Ltd. is engaged in the business of industrial rotomoulding solutions since 1995 for liquid storage solutions, environment protection solutions, industrial storage and material handling solutions. Puri-based Bhumiputra Agri Brigade is engaged in business of promotion and trading of agri equipment in Odisha.
