Gokul Chandra Pati, a 1978 batch IAS officer, today assumed office as the new chief secretary of the state. Pati succeeded Jugal Kishore Mohapatra, as the latter quit the post to join as the Union Fertiliser Secretary.
A senior bureaucrat, Pati has earlier served the state government in various capacities including secretary of rural development and industries. However, Pati was on Central deputation since 2006.
"Emphasis will be given on the development of infrastructure, agriculture, health and education sector", said Pati after assuming the office. He will continue in the office till November 2015. Prior to the new capacity Pati was serving as the secretary of defence production in the Ministry of defence.
