Pakistani troops early Friday resorted to "unprovoked firing" at Indian positions on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, the military said.
The incident took place in Bhimber Gali sector in Poonch district, spokesman Colonel Manish Mehta told IANS.
"The unprovoked firing started just after midnight and continued till 1.30 a.m. They used light weapons and automatics to target our positions.
"Our troops gave a befitting response... No damage or casualty has been reported from our side," the official said.
India has accused Pakistan of repeated violations of the 2003 ceasefire agreement on the LoC, which divides Jammu and Kashmir between the two countries. The ceasefire violations have become more frequent in the last two years.
