Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today apprised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of the situation in Odisha in the aftermath of the very severe cyclonic storm Phailin hitting the state's shores on Saturday.
Speaking to the Prime Minister over the phone, Patnaik sought the technical support of Central PSUs like NTPC Ltd and PowerGrid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) for restoration of power infrastructure that has been ravaged by the cyclonic storm.
The chief minister today visited the worst hit Ganjam district and informed the Prime Minister about the steps taken by the state government to restore normalcy.
"Districts like Ganjam and Puri have suffered maximum damage of power infrastructure. The technical support of Central PSUs like NTPC and PGCIL is essential for restoration of power in these districts" Patnaik said.
