A petition was filed at the Lahore High Court on September 23 seeking a ban on Indian movies in the country until the resolution of the Kashmir issue.
The petition, filed by Advocate Azhar Saddique, alleged that exhibiting Indian movies in local cinemas hurts the sentiments of the people of Kashmir and Pakistan, both of whom who are against the atrocities committed by Indian security forces in the region.
It said further the Indian movies, being opposed to Pakistan's Kashmir policy, are a'big hurdle' in freedom movement of the people in the valley.
The ban, argued the petitioner, would be a firm response to India, where the government and other extremist organisations are threatening Pakistani actors to leave India after Uri attack.
The court will fix the date of hearing next week.
