To increase interaction with the public at large, the Prime Minister's Office has revamped its website with a whole new interface including an option to send a letter directly to the prime minister.
It also has a section 'Our Government' that has nine sub-sections The President of India, Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, The Cabinet Secretariat, Press information Bureau, Open Government Data, National portal of INDIA, GOI Web Directory and MyGov. These sub-sections are, in fact, links of respective websites. The President of India, for instance, opens the website of the president.
The PMO handle on twitter also tweeted about the development: The highlight here is of course the option that provides people an opportunity to write to the prime minister directly now, a move timed right around the one year completion of the Modi government in power. For this feature though, one has to register himself/herself on the website first.
The Modi government has been facing severe criticism for giving only a few interviews in the media and not being open for public queries. Embedding the option of 'write to PM' might be a step in a direction to put faith in people about the government's transparency.
