After kabaddi, which surprised everyone with its ratings in the first season, it is now ProSportify's Pro Wrestling League (PWL) that has gripped the fancy of the viewers. The league launched on December 10 is being held in association with the Wrestling Federation of India.

The two-week long wrestling tournament that features domestic and international players is being telecast on channels across the Sony Pictures India network (earlier called Multi-Screen Media) including Sony Max, Sony Six and Sony Pal. Day 1 of PWL recorded viewership of 47.56 million viewers across the three channels (considering cable and satellite viewers above four years of age across the country) for the time slot 7-9pm. This is according to data reported by the ratings agency under the Broadcasters Audience Research Council (BARC).

As per BARC data, Sony SIX registered a jump of 400 per cent for the duration 7:00pm to 9:00pm on December 10th and 11th, 2015 for LIVE ProWrestling League 2015. The league has registered close to 46 per cent of its ratings from Sony Pal (free to air/DD Free Dish Channel) with viewership of over 40 per cent from female audiences.

PWL has garnered an event average of 0.78 TVR (television rating point) for cable and satellite viewers above four years of age across the country and an event average of 1.01 TVR across satellite viewers above four years of age in the Hindi Speaking Market (HSM). This puts it just behind the Pro Kabaddi League which launched with 1.07 TVR in the all India market in its second season, and 1.42 TVR in the HSM.

Speaking about the success of the league, Kartikeya Sharma, CMD ProSportify said, "We have delivered what we started out to do, which is to build wrestling as India's most popular sport after cricket. ProSportify is our earnest effort to bridge the gap in Indian sport, and catalyse talent to sporting glory. The ratings clearly show that Indian audiences have embraced the sport. The Pro Wrestling League promises to deliver its audience & viewers the right blend of sports & entertainment."

Vishal Gurnani, Director ProSportify added, "The BARC ratings clearly show that the Pro Wrestling League has cut across viewer segments, across markets and across TG's. The contribution of female viewers is a significant revelation."
