Major Bisht was to come home on February 28 for his marriage.

A large number of politicians including Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, a host of BJP leaders and MLAs including Pradesh party president Ajay Bhatt,  legislators Vinod Chamoli, Ganesh Joshi and Munna Singh Chauhan  besides former CM and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat placed a wreath on the officer's coffin to pay their homage.
 
Uttarakhand DGP Anil Raturi and ADG Ashok Kumar were also among a host of senior police officials who turned up to pay their tribute to the Army man.
 
Chants of "Major Bisht Amar Rahein" rent the air as the coffin borne on the shoulders of Army men was lifted to proceed for Haridwar for the last rites with wailing relatives and friends following behind.

Indian community in UAE unites against Pulwama terror attack

The Indian community in the UAE gathered in large numbers at the embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate in Dubai to express sympathy and solidarity with the families of CRPF men killed in the terrorist strike in Pulwama on February 14.
 
They paid candlelight homage to the jawans martyred in Pulwama and vowed to remain united in the face of terror.

Two terrorists have been killed during encounter between terrorists and security forces, in Pinglan area of Pulwama district. Operation still in progress.

Security forces and terrorists are engaged in a gunfight in the Pinglan area of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir. According to latest information, two to three terrorists are trapped in the area. This exchange comes merely days after over 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives in a deadly terror attack in Pulwama.

Meanwhile, the wake of terror attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy in Kashmir’s Pulwama district on February 14, traders' body CAIT has called for a nationwide trade bandh today to express solidarity with the families of security personnel killed.

Traders in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana, J&K and other states will participate in the trade bandh.


In Delhi prominent markets including Chandni Chowk, Khari Baoli, Kashmiri Gate, Chawri Bazar, Sadar Bazar, Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Kamla Nagar, South Extension, Lajpat Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar, Shahdara, Gandhi Nagar etc will be closed, CAIT said.

The attack has fuelled tensions between India and Pakistan.
