Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram Rajan is here on a two-day visit to take part in various official programmes, including the board meeting scheduled to be held at RBI’s regional office.
On Wednesday morning, Rajan would inaugurate an exhibition organised by the RBI regional office. He will later meet Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. A senior government official said it would be a courtesy call. A similar meeting with Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was also planned though it is not happening now as the latter is camping in Visakhapatnam to oversee the relief and rehabilitation efforts in the cyclone-affected areas.
In the evening, the RBI governor would attend a technology excellence awards programme being held by the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), which works under the RBI.
On Thursday, he would chair RBI’s central board meeting. He is also scheduled to meet Kenya Central Bank Governor Njuguna N’dungu besides addressing students of Indian School of Business (ISB) as part of RBI outreach programme.
