The Andhra Pradesh forest department has postponed the global auction of the seized red sanders wood to next month. The auction process was originally scheduled to be held from September 19-26. However, the department has revised the schedule, according to which the sale process will be conducted from October 10-17.
Chief principal conservator of forests A V Joseph in a statement said the decision to postpone the auction by 20 days was aimed at confidence-building among the foreign buyers.
Last month the Andhra government had issued the global e-tender cum e-auction notice for sale of over 4,000 tonnes of the seized red sanders to raise funds for government programmes.
