All India IAS Association has demanded immediate revocation of suspension of young IAS officer Durga Sakthi Nagpal who took stringent action against sand mafia in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.
'Whatever wrong has been should be immediately undone. Such action is not appropriate,' Association's Secretary Sanjay R Bhoos Reddy told PTI here.
He said the Association's member will meet Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V Narayanasamy, Secretary of Department of Personnel and Training, nodal authority for personnel matters of IAS, Dr Shyamal Sarkar and Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth tomorrow in support of its demand.
The Association is the central body of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers which has at present has about 4,737 member (equal to the number of officers of the elite service).
The Association has already met Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh and urged him to revoke Nagpal's suspension.
Nagpal, a 2010 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, was suspended on July 27 ostensibly for ordering demolition of wall of a mosque allegedly without following the due process.
The young IAS officer, whose cadre was changed to Uttar Pradesh from Punjab in August last year, is at present attached to the Board of Revenue in Lucknow.
28-year-old Nagpal, as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Gautam Budh Nagar, had cracked down on sand mafia active in that area.
