Rio Olympics: AIFF announces reward of Rs 5 lakh each for Sindhu, Sakshi

Sindhu became the first women athlete from India to won an Olympic silver medal, while Sakshi became first woman wrestler to won a medal

All India Football Federation President Praful Patel has congratulated ace shuttler P V Sindhu and wrestler Sakshi Malik for winning medals at the Rio Olympics and announced a cash award of Rs 5 lakh for them.

"AIFF Media expresses it's support & solidarity with the sporting fraternity for doing India proud. We award Rs 5 lakh each to Sindhu and Sakshi," Patel wrote on his personal twitter handle.

While Sindhu became the first ever woman athlete from India to have won an Olympic silver medal, Sakshi is the first-ever Indian woman wrestler to have won an Olympic medal.
