The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) will conduct Rajasthan Administration Services (RAS) 2016 preliminary examination on August 28, 2016. The Combined Competitive Exam is organised by the RPSC to fill total 725 posts.
Reportedly, over 4 lakh candidates have applied for the exam. The Commission has released the RAS Pre admit card and the registered candidates can now access their admit cards / call letter at RPSC online portal https://rpsc.rajasthan.gov.in using their respective application ID and date of birth.

Important instructions

Commission has issued a notice that its website will not be available from 12:00 AM on August 27, 2016 to 06:00 AM on August 27, 2016 for maintenance activity. Candidates are advised not to wait last dates to download admit cards.

If there are any mistake in the particulars like name, father’s name, date of birth or category in the admit card, the candidates need to get it addressed. For that they have to submit an application along with a postal order of Rs. 300 to the Commission’s office.

The preliminary examination will be conducted from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, across all the district headquarters in Rajasthan. Candidates have to carry RAS admit card, along with one photograph and a valid identity proof. Wrist watches, mobile any other electronic gadgets are completely banned to curb any malpractices during exam time. Candidates are requested to reach their respective exam centres one hour prior to the exam timings.

Selection process

The selection process is divided in three phases: preliminary exam, main exam, and proficiency test and interview. Preliminary exam will be a screening test and the candidates who make the cut offs, as determined by the commission, will be shortlisted for the main exam. Schedule for main exam and interview, and list of candidates eligible, will be announced after the conclusion of the preliminary exam by the Commission.

The preliminary examination, of three-hour duration, will comprise one paper that will quiz candidates on their general knowledge and general science with objective type questions for 200 marks. The marks secured by the candidates in this exams will however not be counted for determining their final order of merit.

The Commission had issued a notification earlier, to clear doubts, emphasizing that the RAS 2016 exam will be based on its 2013 exam pattern, and the question paper would be based on the Bachelor’s degree syllabus.

Main exam would be for 800 marks and interview round would carry 100 marks.
