In one of the biggest daylight bank heists in Odisha, the dacoits, today, robbed gold jewellery worth around Rs 5 crore from the Darpanarayanpur branch of Odisha Gramya Bank in Nayagarh district.
According to sources, four bike-borne masked youths entered the bank branch this afternoon and overpowered the bank staff and security before asking the bank manager on gun point to open the iron chest of the bank which held the gold jewellery of the customers who had taken loans by pledging the jewellery as collateral security. They later decamped with 688 packets of jewellery and around Rs 12,000 in cash kept in the teller counter. The manager and cashier of the bank are reported to have been injured in the attack.e
