Amid allegations of involvement of many politicians in Saradha chit fund scam in West Bengal, ruling Trinamool Congress today said all guilty would be punished by the state government.
"All those who are proved guilty, even if they are big shots, would be punished by the state government," party general secretary Mukul Roy told a rally at Sildah in West Midnapore district.
Assuring the government's support to depositors who have lost money in the scam, he said, "To protect them laws are being made by us."
Trinamool MP Subhendu Adhikari, who was also present on the occasion, alleged that "It was the Left Front who had helped the Saradha Group to establish themselves here. And now when the fraud is out in the open they are crying foul."
On the delay in Panchayat polls in the state, Roy said, "It is not only us but also the Congress and CPI(M) who are responsible for this.
