Severe heatwave condition in West Bengal at 45 degree Celsius

After recording below 40 degrees Celsius for a couple of days, temperature bounced back to 40 plus mercury mark

Districts of Gangetic West Bengal Thursday sizzled under severe heatwave conditions with Bankura recording the highest temperature at 45.1 degrees Celsius.

The Bankura's temperature was six degrees above normal, the Met department said and forecast above 45 degree temperature for the next three days.

The maximum day temperatures at Asansol, Burdwan and Sriniketan were recorded at 44.1 degrees Celsius, 42.2 degrees Celsius, and 43 degrees Celsius respectively.

After recording below 40 degrees Celsius for a couple of days, the metropolis, part of which will vote in the fifth phase of polling tomorrow, is once again back to 40 plus mercury mark at 40.4 degrees, five degrees above normal.
