The body of late Tata Motors managing director Karl Slym has been flown to the UK, his home country. His wife Sally Slym has also returned to that country.
The date for Slym’s funeral is yet to be announced. Slym, 51, died on Sunday after a fall from the 22nd floor of the Shangri-La hotel in Bangkok, following an argument with his wife Sally. On Wednesday, a condolence meeting was held at Tata Motors’ Pune plant, sources said. Karl, accompanied by Sally, had flown to Bangkok on January 24, after attending a press conference in Delhi. He was scheduled to attend a board meeting of Tata Motors (Thailand), a pick-up making joint venture, before flying back to India on January 26.
A post-mortem report confirmed Slym had died of severe head injuries caused by the fall.
Thai police who were investigating the case had ruled out the possibility of murder stating that Slym had committed suicide. Meanwhile, Tata Motors has said that the company has not yet closed the appointment of successor to Karl Slym. Ravi Kant, non-executive vice chairman of the company is reportedly amongst the top executives who would be made the interim chief. Kant, who will turn 65 in a few months, will retire in June this year.
