Smog affects flight schedules at Chennai airport
The smog, caused due to Bhogi, affected the visibility in airport for one to two hours in the morning
BS Reporter Chennai The smog caused due to the burning of waste as part of Bhogi by Chennaiites on Thursday morning has affected the schedule of several flights at the Chennai Airport, causing some flights divert its destination to neighbouring airports.
According to an airport official, the visibility became low in the morning for a few hours due to smog, to around 200 to 300 metres and some of the flights were diverted while several others were delayed. He said that five flights were diverted or delayed, including a Muscat-Chennai flight that was diverted to Bengaluru.
A Saudi Arabian flight from Riyadh was among other flights that were delayed.
