Soybean sowing may start in the last week of June or first week of July this season due to some delay in arrivals of monsoon in Madhya Pradesh, said experts and farmers.

Sowing generally starts in the state by third week of June and goes on till July end depending upon the movement of monsoon.

The delay will also affect sowing of other kharif crops like paddy, pulses, cotton and groundnut.

"We expect monsoon to reach the state by June 20 as we see some activity in both Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. Eastern Madhya Pradesh is likely to get better rains compared to west," said D P Dubey, director, IMD, Bhopal.
