Staff Selection Commission (SSC) (Link: http://ssc.nic.in) is on a recruitment drive for junior engineers to fill up positions in various ministries. Headquartered in New Delhi, a Government of India-affiliated organization, SSC is has invited eligible candidates to apply. Last date to submit online application for part-I is October 28, 2016 and for part-II is October 31, 2016.
Candidates will be selected on the basis of a computer-based written exam and skill test. According to a latest recruitment notification, the Commission (Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staff_Selection_Commission) will conduct an open competitive computer-based written examination from December 3, 2016 to December 5, 2016.
Selected candidates will be appointed as Junior Engineers, Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts. The pay band for the varied posts is from Rs.9300 to Rs. 34800, plus Grade pay Rs. 4200 (pre-revised).
The Commission is looking out for Indian national for the posts. Subject of Nepal, or Bhutan, or Tibetan refugee, or person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India can also apply, provided that the candidate has a certificate of eligibility has issued by the Government of India.

Educational qualification
Interested candidates should have a degree/ diploma in civil/electrical/mechanical engineering from a recognised university or institute. As per Ministry of Human Resource Development notification, candidates who have acquired the qualifications though open Universities / Distance Education mode needs can apply provided that their degree/diploma is recognized by Distance Education Council, IGNOU New Delhi and wherever necessary by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
All candidates who are called for documents verification will be required to produce the relevant certificates in original such as mark sheets, provisional degree/diploma certificate, etc. as proof of having acquired the minimum educational qualification on or before August 1, 2016 Ex-servicemen who have done various courses from Armed Forces, certified by Competent Authority to be equivalent to Diploma in civil/electrical/mechanical engineering, are eligible to appear in the examination.
As on August 1, 2016, the age limit per candidate is 30-32 years depending upon the post and ministry.

Examination
In Paper-I and Paper-II for General Engineering, the candidate appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Quantity Surveying & Contract) should attempt Part A (Civil & Structural) of Paper-I and Paper-II. Candidates applying for the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical) should attempt Part-B (Electrical) and the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Mechanical) should attempt Part C (Mechanical) of Paper-I and Paper-II failing which his/her answer sheet (Paper-II) will not be evaluated.
Paper-I will consist of objective type multiple-choice questions only. Candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of performance in Paper –I will be called for Paper-II (conventional type).
There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I.
Commission will place the answer keys of Paper-I on its website after the examination. Objections and claims, if any, received within the time limit specified while placing the answer key, will be examined by the Commission with the help of experts.
