Surat bank fraud case: Court sends Tripathy to judicial custody

A local court here on Tuesday sent Namo Narayan Tripathy, a proclaimed offender (PO) who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Kanpur on May 30 in connection with a fraud case, to judicial custody till June 6.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vyas sent Tripathy to judicial custody till June 6.

Tripathy was arrested from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning in connection with a fraud of Rs 9 million he committed along with his partner Nilesh Vaghela using forged documents with State Bank of India, SMECCC branch in Surat.

A CBI team, which was camping in Kanpur prior to his arrest, found that he was living there under the fake name of Ranjan Tripathy. Vaghela was arrested last year.

Tripathy is also wanted in two case registered against him at Umra and Athwalines police stations in Surat city.
