Almost 26 days after the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) General Secretary J Jayalalithaa was admitted in hospital, a cabinet meeting under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Finance Minister O Panneerselvam will be held on Wednesday morning.

AIADMK spokesperson C R Saraswathi confirmed it on Tuesday morning. However, she refused to comment on the agenda for the meeting.

According to sources, the ministers are expected to meet at 9:30 am on Wednesday and discuss various issues including the Cauvery dispute and the course of action the State government has been taking in it. The meeting also comes at a time when the GST (goods and services) Council is meeting to discuss various issues including the tax rates.

It may be noted that Panneerselvam has taken over the portfolios of Jayalalithaa, following the State Governor C Vidyasagar Rao reallocated them on October 12, considering the ailment of the Chief Minister until she resumes her duties.

Following the reallocation, various ministers conducted periodical review meetings in their departments. On Tuesday, R P Udayakumar, Minister for Revenue, has chaired a meeting on the preparedness for the North East Monsoon, which is expected to hit the State soon. There has been concerns raised from various corners that whether the State would face a flood like situation it faced last year due to heavy rainfalls.
