Tarun Tejpal, accused of sexual assault on a woman colleague, appeared before the Crime Branch of Goa Police on Friday for questioning in connection with the case filed against him. Shortly after his arrival from Delhi, Tejpal, accompanied by his family members and lawyers, drove to Dona Paula to appear before the police, which had called him for questioning. He brushed aside questions from journalists who mobbed him and asked him "would you confess".
Earlier in the day, Tejpal had got a minor relief when a local court gave him interim protection from arrest till 10 am on Saturday. Tejpal landed in Panaji around the time District and Sessions Judge Anuja Prabhudesai gave him the reprieve till Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, the Central revenue department is inquiring into the payment of service tax by the event management firm which had organised Thinkfest, during which the assault is alleged to have taken place, on behalf of Tehelka .
