Situation in Chennai city over the Jallikattu row is getting out of hand as the clash between police and protestors resulted in Ice House police station set on fire in Triplicane area. Petrol bombs were used to throw at the police station.
The area is just two kilometers away from the Secretariat, where Assembly session is currently happening.
Meanwhile, the State assembly has commenced today morning. The session started with a tribute to former chief minister Jayalalithaa followed by Governor's speech. Bill to replace ordinance on Jallikattu to be placed in Assembly will be a permanent one, said Ch Vidyasagar Rao.
It was also decided to hold Jallikattu on February 1, 2017 at Alanganallur, the place where the protests first began before spreading across Tamil Nadu
The Jallikattu protest remained peaceful for over a week, but turned violent with protestors throwing stones at police following the latter’s action to evict them from Marina Beach.
All roads connecting Marina Beach resembled a battlezone after protestors injured four policemen and they burnt vehicles and tyres on the road. They also threw large numbers of stones at the police and the police retaliated with baton charge and they opened tear gas.

The police physically pulled out the protesters who were sitting at the protest venue at Marina Beach and threatened to walk into it.
The protestors were demanding a "permanent" solution, which is amendment to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act by the central government by exempting bulls from the list of performing animals.
The police arrived at the Marina Beach on Sunday night. On Monday morning they urged the protesters to vacate Marina which was not heeded to. Following that the police started their eviction process by physically lifting the protesters.
