Police are yet to identify the accused. After the complaint by Tharoor, a case has been filed under IPC section 380/457 (burglary).
Indian Express, which accessed Tharoor's complaint, reported that the thieves climbed the wall of his official residence and entered his personal office after breaking the front door.
“The thieves took an antique Nataraja idol, 12 small Ganesha idols, and 10 small Hanuman idols. Several items were also lifted from inside Tharoor’s temple. Twelve 32 GB pen drives and an internet dongle were also stolen," Indian Express reported.
A senior police officer of New Delhi district told Express that Tharoor has asked Delhi Police to increase patrolling around his residence and to nab the culprit at the earliest.
Tharoor has also requested the police to specifically recover the antique Nataraja idol.
