US-based dating app Tinder has chosen India as the first overseas country from where it will launch its international operations, three years after the app came to India. The office, which will be set up in Delhi, will be headed by Taru Kapoor.
Tinder’s India operations will focus on establishing the brand within the country, steering explosive user growth and increasing user engagement by focusing on needs of the local user.
According to Tinder, in just three years of its launch, more than 10 billion matches have been made around the world on the app. These matches have led to friends, dates and relationships.
For those who are yet to explore the app, below are a few highlighted features (some newly added) of Tinder:
Job and Education
Tinder has now added a ‘job and education’ requirement to user profiles, a feature that has been frequently requested by users. The new requirement helps users make a more informed choice as they now privy to additional and important information. Besides that, the addition also provides for good conversation starters.

Better Recommendations

Superlike Button
Tinder has gone beyond just swiping left and swiping right. The app has introduced a new feature that allows users to swipe up if they find someone really special. A blue star icon on user profiles can also be used an as alternate to swiping up.
For example, if a user ‘superlikes’ someone, this blue star will appear on their profile, while their potential match is viewing it. If they swipe right or hit ‘superlike’ too, it will be an immediate match.
Verified Profiles
Tinder has also rolled out a feature that lets users know if a profile is verified or no. This has ensured that users receive ‘real’ recommendations for a safe and enjoyable experience.
Instagram Integration
Tinder profiles have gotten a lot more colorful with Instagram integration. Setting this up is easy. Users need to go to profile, select ‘edit’ and choose ‘Connect Instagram.’ Once the username and password is confirmed user profiles will automatically start displaying recent Instagram photos.
Common Connections
Tinder now also displays common connections between two potential matches. This not only makes user conversations safe, but also easier.
