Within hours of recieving the news of legendary singer Manna Dey passing away, tributes started pouring in on Twitter from various artists, fans and friends.
Actor Amitabh Bachchan tweeted saying, "Manna Dey, stalwart of the music world, passes away. Flooded with memories and his songs. In particular his rendition of Madhushala."
While most of tweets on Dey's demise indicated the planet was no more melodious, various artists, celebrities had their own way to pay tribute to the legendary singer.
It was not only Bollywood, Gujrat CM and BJP leader Narendra Modi tweeted in the morning, "In Manna Dey, we have lost a legendary singer. His immortal voice will remain with us forever. May his soul rest in peace,"
Mamata Banerjee also wrote on her facebook page, "To the entire music world, his passing away is an irreparable loss. He was Bengal’s pride. There is no substitute of Manna De."
Manish Tewari, Minister of Information & Broadcast tweeted, "His voice & unique style enthralled a whole generation. Another legend has left us."
While renowned filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar said, "Mannada, a Legendary singer with a golden voice, that ruled our hearts for decades, will be missed by all. Zindagi kaisi hai paheli haye"
Sanjiv Goenka tweeted, "With the passing away of Manna De, India has lost one of her greatest musicians and Saregama India its priceless Kohinoor"
Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle too joined the chorus to pay tribute to the melody master by saying, " my all time favourite though has to be laaga chunari me daag.....among many unforgettables of course."
While Dey gave his voice to over 3,000 songs in various languages, his song on Kolkata's much celebrated Coffee House--coffee houser sei adda ta-- remains the top pick delivered by the master. Various tweets by his fans across the country shared the classic song in remembrance of the singer.
