Customs officials arrested two persons in the wee hours on Friday morning with 1.35 kg gold from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport, Ahmedabad, official sources said.
“Two passengers, trying to smuggle gold strips weighing 1.35 kg, were held by Customs officials at SVPI Airport, Ahmedabad,” the official said.
Sources said 669 grams of unaccounted gold worth Rs 18.63 lakh were recovered Haryana resident Sajjan’s possession. In similar another incident, Ramesh Kumar, also a resident of Haryana, was also nabbed by officials for carrying 676 grams worth Rs 18.82 lakh of unaccounted gold.
The market value of the seized consignment is Rs 37.45 lakh.
