Newly appointed Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray has dropped hints of a patch up with his estranged cousin, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, ahead of the next Maharashtra Assembly and parliamentary elections, are slated for 2014.
“You cannot clap with one hand. Tell me, can you?” Uddhav asked in an interview in the Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna, in response to a question on if the cousins could come together. In response, Saamna's executive editor and party MP Sanjay Raut asked if this implied the two parties could join hands.
“Why do you ask this question only to me? I am ready to reply. But for that you have to make us sit together, next to each other. Then you can ask the question to both of us. It depends on both sides.”
Uddhav's late father Bal Thackeray had in one of his last interviews said he wished the two brothers would come together. Raut said Uddhav's interview was the direction ahead for the party.
