UP Board topper list 2018: Girls outshine boys; 6 prisoners also clear exam

UP Board result 2018: The Uttar Pradesh Board and Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) on Sunday released the results of Class 10 and Class 12 on their official websites, upresults.nic.in and upmspresults.up.nic.in. While Class 12 results came out at 12.30 pm, Class 10 students scores were declared at 1.30 pm. The board examinations were conducted in Uttar Pradesh in February for both Class 10 and 12 students and evaluation started from March 17.

Around 6.6 million (66 lakh) students registered for Class 10 and 12 examinations in 2018, out of which, about 1.1 million couldn't sit for the test. The passing percentage of Class 12 boys this year is 72.27 per cent whereas the passing percentage of girls is 78.81 per cent.

Class 12 results: Rajneesh Shukla and Akash Maurya topped with 466 marks each, obtaining 93.2 per cent, said Awadh Naresh Sharma, Board of High School & Intermediate Education Uttar Pradesh, ANI reported.

In the second position, Ananya Rai from Ghazipur scored 92.6 per cent.

Class 10 results: Allahabad's Anjali Verma topped with 96.33 per cent while Fatehpur's Yashashvi ranked second with 94.5 per cent, according to Times of India. Anjali Verma, daughter of a farmer, thanked her school teachers for helping and supporting her.

"I am very happy to top the exam. I was confident of scoring good marks. Our school teachers helped us to prepare well. I want to become an engineer. My father is a farmer who has always supported me," Verma said.
 

Abhishek Kumar, who stood third in the UP Board Class 10 results, said: "I have always studied as per my timetable and gave proper importance to each subject. My school teacher and parents always inspired me to do well. I had self-motivation. I would like to become an NDA officer."


Utkarsh, who stood sixth in UP Board Class 10 exams, said, "I am really happy and I want to become an IAS officer."


Congratulating the candidates on UP Board exam results, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath said, "I am really happy that such a good result has come. I want to congratulate everyone who has passed in these examinations. This time all the exams were held without any complaints of cheating coming from anywhere."

6 inmates from Muzaffarnagar jail clear UP board exams

Six inmates, including four serving life terms, at the district jail here have cleared their Class 10 and Class 12 examinations conducted by the Uttar Pradesh state education board, officials said on Sunday.
 

Not only that, these inmates have secured first division in the examination, whose results were announced earlier in the day, Jail Superintendent A K Saxena said.
 

Of the six inmates, four — Praveen Singh, Joga Singh, Sompal and Ramdev Singh — are serving life terms, he said.
 

These inmates had appeared for their board examination from the Ghaziabad jail, Saxena added.

Where to look for the results:
Result via SMS: To avail the service to receive your result directly on your phone via SMS, check with your mobile operator who will provide you with a number to send SMS. Once you enter your 10 digit roll number after typing <ABC34...>, send it to the number you've been provided. You'll receive your results shortly. Remember different mobile operators have their own numbers and procedure, so follow their instructions.

Results via Websites: Students can check their scores on the official websites. The websites are- upresults.nic.in, upmspresults.up.nic.in and results.nic.in. Private websites like examresults.net and indiaresults.com also host the results.

To check, open the website and click on the results link available on the homepage. From there, you will be redirected to the results page; have patience if the page takes time to load. Once the page is loaded, enter your name, roll number and select class carefully. The page will display your scores. Make sure to download it or take a printout of the page.

Passing criteria: A candidate has to secure a minimum of 35 per cent to pass. The board will conduct compartment exam if anyone fails in any subject.

Last year's result: In 2017, Priyanshi Tiwari of Class 12 had topped the UP Board with 96.2 per cent while Tejaswi Devi scored the highest in Class 10 with 95.83 per cent.
