To regularise sessions of universities in Uttar Pradesh and improve the quality of higher education in the state, Governor Ram Naik on Wednesday sought details of admissions in the new session and undeclared results.

In a letter written to vice-chancellors (V-Cs) of all universities in the state, Naik, the chancellor of the universities, has sought details of all new admissions and undeclared results as on July 31, Raj Bhawan spokesman said here. Naik has asked the V-Cs to ensure that exams, results and convocations are held on time, the spokesperson said.

The governor said financial sanction for universities from the government will be considered. Full-time V-Cs will be appointed in universities which have acting V-Cs, he said. The chancellor said, in place of monthly progress reports, universities should provide details of important achievements and proposed activities lined up for the next month to his office.

He said universities should classify two categories of work - those related to the Chancellor's office and the ones related to the state government - so that the problems are identified and redressed.
