The Uttar Pradesh government would be sending 330 buses to Nepal to ferry back its citizens stuck in the earthquake ravaged nation of Nepal.
While 132 buses have already been sent to the Himalayan nation, 200 more would soon be flagged off in due course.
Besides, 50 truck loads of relief materials, comprising food items and medicines, have been sent to the neighbouring country, which shares a long international border with UP, apart from traditional trade links.
The aftershocks of the earthquake were felt in the state, killing many and damaging several buildings.
The state government has set up medical camps at Sonauli village adjoining Nepal to provide urgent medical care to the people wounded in the natural calamity.
So far, UP has dispatched medicines worth Rs 25 lakh to Nepal, apart from a team of doctors from multi-specialty King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow.
The state government has made arrangements at the Delhi airport to provide assistance to people coming by air from Nepal.
On Saturday, after the quake had hit Nepal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had talked over the phone to discuss the emergency measures that were needed for providing aid to the affected people.
