In an announcement made today, Kamal Haasan-lead actor, producer and director of the film-said that the movie would be released on February 7, Thursday, after going through several obstructions.
He thanked the Tamil Nadu government for coming up with help immediately; movie goers, fans, people in Tamil Nadu and all over India for supporting him.
While thanking his fans for all their love towards him, he said that the cheques and money which they sent him would be sent back to them.
It may be noted that the movie was first announced for release on January 11, after a premier on Direct to home (DTH). Later, following the protest by the theatre owners organisation in the state, the plan for DTH premier was shelved and the release was postponed to January 25.
The movie was banned by the state government on January 23, which pointed out that the release of the movie would create law and order issues.
