Water level in 91 major reservoirs across the country remained at around 15% of their total capacity for the third consecutive week, government said on Friday.
According to Union Water Resources Ministry, 23.94 billion cubic metre (BCM) of water was available in these reservoirs for the week ending on June 30.
For the week ending on June 23, the water stock available in these reservoirs was 23.202 BCM.
The storage is 52% short of the stock available during corresponding period last year and 30% less than the 10-year average levels for the same span of time, the ministry said in a statement.
The total capacity of these reservoirs is 157.799 BCM.
Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, Punjab, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka have reported lower levels of water in major reservoirs compared to last year.

Rajasthan, Tripura and Andhra Pradesh have reported better storage vis-a-vis last year for the corresponding period.
The estimated water storage capacity of all reservoirs in the country is 253.388 BCM. Thirty seven of the major reservoirs have hydropower benefit with installed capacity of more than 60 MW.
