Lawyers in western Uttar Pradesh continued their stir for 15th day today, leading to a sharp increase in the number of undertrial prisoners in different district jails.
Intensifying their agitation for a separate bench of the Allahabad High Court in western region, the State High Court Bench Action Committee here has decided to extend its boycott till August 30, chairman of the action committee Udey Bir Singh said.
He said further course of action will be decided in Noida on August 31.
While legal practitioners in western region of the state are in favour of the creation of a new bench, some lawyers in other areas are vehemently opposed to the same as such a move is likely to deprive them of a sizable clientele.
