YSR Cong wins 9 Assembly seats in AP bypolls

YSRCP candidates are leading by comfortable margins in six other Assembly seats as well

YSR Congress Party today continued to make gains winning nine of the 18 Assembly seats where bypolls were held in Andhra Pradesh and were leading in six other seats while the ruling Congress bagged two.

The YSR Congress, led by YSR Jaganmohan Reddy who is in jail in connection with a disproportionate assets case, emerged victorious in Narasannapet, Payakaraopet, Prathipadu, Polavaram, Rajampet, Kodur, Rayachoti, Allagadda, Yemmiganur assembly segments, official sources said.

The consolation for Congress came from Narasapuram and Ramachandrapuram.

The YSRCP candidates were leading by comfortable margins in six other Assembly seats.

In the Nellore Lok Sabha seat, YSRCP candidate M Rajamohan Reddy was leading over his nearest Congress rival T Subbirami Reddy till the completion of seventh round.

In Parkal, the lone Assembly seat in Telangana region, the TRS was leading by a slender margin of 401 votes after the completion of 18th round.
